My truck MSRP’d for less than $16k when new.
I have four options/packages:
1SB Package ($1,000): Std Equipment + V6 engine, 3.08 axle ratio, Trans and Oil coolers
Comfort Convenience Package ($395): Tilt wheel + cruise control
Increased Capacity Suspension Package ($64)
AM/FM Radio + CD ($302)
MSRP: $15,722
If only the person who ordered the truck would’ve spent the extra $270 for the locking diff.
I do find it funny that a $13k base model truck in 2002 had standard AC and auto lights but some cars today don’t. I also had no idea those wheels were steel until about 5 minutes ago. I’ve always thought they were alloy.

Trans and oil cooler. It's basically a race car.

Mine was somewhere around $50k.

$302 for a CD player is criminal...

Mine was just over $16k. Same year, 2002.

My dad’s 2000 S10 was 12k when new. Fancyest thing was the CD player, which ironicly doesnt work anymore :)
I do love the stock rims. When it’s totally mine I want to turn it into a prerunner. Bigger tires, a little lift, LS swap :D, etc

Yep we rag on cars of this era, because they were cheap, but you have to remember they were also cheap. A quick inflation calculator check said 15,700 dollars in 2002 would be 21,000 now. And a similarly equipped Colorado now will cost you 23,000, actually with that you still only get the 4 cylinder.

The M3 was about $45k iirc, and 4 years older.

To be fair so is the $900 manufacturers charge today for the SD card for Navigation

I wish I had the window sticker, I had to figure all this out by myself :(
I also wish I had the physical owner’s manual, but that’s a complaint for another time.

Yep, new tech, same scam.

Everything electronic in mine actually functions, which is a total 180 from the M3 where there was more not working things than working it seemed. Of course the only thing electronic is the cruise control and radio so there’s not exactly much room for failure.

Dat 4.3 tho..
My folks have a 2000 Astro with the same engine and it runs like a top at 280k miles.

My parent’s have a ‘94 Safari that was my first car and I’m pretty sure it was ran with minimal oil and coolant at one point and didn’t miss a beat. They are genuinely unkillable engines.

Old GM pushrod engines are so stupid simple, it’s simply stupid to look elsewhere.

Those wheels aren’t Aluminium?

According to the internet, no.
Of course the internet has been wrong before so maybe?

This time I’d slap that internet guy. His name is Al Gore.

Original engine, original trans, just maintained well.... 900k miles.
Growing up in a GM family, I wouldn’t own another. Engines are great, everything else, not so much.

What it boils down to is that I really wanted to use that phrase. I build Oldsmobile engines on the side and my next purchase may very well be another Jeep.

Those are alloy wheels. They could have been added on by the previous owner. Lots of guys took those off to add their stupid giant rimz back in the day, so these could be had pretty cheap on the ultranets.

They are aluminum. I had those wheels on my ‘98 S-10, and I’ve always liked them.

Truth! Mine needs valve seals and has 170,000 hard miles but just chugs on.

Can probably find one on eBay for cheap!

Mine was $12,995
Only options were HD suspension, rear step bumper, and a/c.
